Alexander, It's fairly easy to get a driving licence. There usually is a three-step procedure, and every province has different rules. However something general applies: at first you have to get your "Learners Licence" by just passing a fairly simple computer test. This licence allows you to drive ONLY if there a fully licenced driver present in the car. You are required to hold this licence for at least one year, then you can get a "GDL(Graduated) Licence" by passing a driving test. GDL licence allows you to drive by yourself, but it has several limitations: you're not allowed to have any alcohol in your blood while driving(Zero Alcohol Tolerance) and your insurance will be more expensive. After having the GDL licence for two years, you will be able to get a Full Licence by passing an advanced road test. If you have this licence you're allowed to drink a bit and you can rent cars and your insurance will go down as well.
If you have a current valid licence from Ukraine/Russia, your driving experience will be carried forward to the canadian licence i.e if you have 2 years of driving experience, you will be able to pass the advanced test right after passing your theoretical learners test
